Posing for the photographer <3 |
Riley and I attended our first ever
Yelp event together last week -
Yappy Hour! It was held at the Garden Court Hotel in Palo Alto. The staff there was super friendly and made sure we (and our pups) all felt welcome. Riley, as usual, had to be the center of attention and loved to lick peoples' hands as we walked by them. This resulted in many people stopping us to pet her, chat, and take her photo. She is such a rockstar. ;)

One of the many pictures taken by Riley's adoring fans |
There was delicious food for both human and pup alike. Riley worked those baby brown eyes and ended up receiving treats from just about every human at the event! Some had her do a sit or down, but most just gave her a treat for being adorable, much to her surprise.
The event was a fundraiser for the
Humane Society of Silicon Valley. They do a lot of great work in our area for all types of different furry creatures. I also discovered they have a member-only dog park. You just pay a yearly fee and you get access to a nice clean dog park. All pups must be spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots, and temperament tested. We're going to go check it out soon!

Doggie kissing contest! |
Riley and I decided to enter the kissing contest and we won first place! I wasn't sure if I could get her to give me any kisses with all the distractions, but I gave her a big kiss on the nose and she proceeded to give me a thorough face washing! :)

Riley found a toy in her prize bag! |
|
BEST. DAY. EVER! |
We received a bag of goodies from
Rover.com and Riley promptly removed her new toy! She wanted to play with it at the event, but I had to put it away because the other puppies were getting jealous.

Ice-cream just for the pups |
We ended the event with lots of dog treats from various vendors and a delicious ice-cream treat just for the pups! (You can make them yourself at home! Check out my
recipe.) Both Riley and I had an absolute blast. Our next Yelp event will be
Strut Your Mutt in San Francisco. Please visit our
fundraising page to donate. Our goal is $50 and I will be personally contributing the funds to get us there! :)
